APASS Project

Introduction
APASS initiative has been launched to identify, examine, and disseminate information about new and emerging academic pathways that extend from high school to college and enhance college access for traditionally underserved students. By academic pathways, we mean boundary-spanning curriculum or organizational structures that facilitate students’ transition to college.

Goals
Our goal is to identify and disseminate information about new and emerging academic pathways that systematically link high schools to college and universities, including two- and four- year postsecondary institutions, to enhance access for traditionally underserved students.

Objectives
  1. To conduct a comprehensive search of all 50 states to inventory new and emerging academic pathways that extend into two- and four-year colleges and universities for underserved students.
  2. To describe academic pathways and curricular models that are particularly effective in improving students' access to college and their subsequent success.
  3. To depict the federal, state, and local policy environment including legislation or regulations that enhance or inhibit the development of these academic pathways in the context of the larger educational (P-16) environment.
  4. To disseminate results of all aspects of this project widely utilizing a variety of methods, media, and approaches, including conference presentations, professional meetings, continuous workshop and the like. The project website will be upgraded to disseminate newly created project products and materials.
